More than Just a Barmaid
My name is Tifa and I manage a bar called Seventh Heaven. When I'm not working, I spend time with Denzel and Marlene, two children I look after with my dear friend, Cloud. Don't cross me or those I love, because I pack a punch!

He cocked his head to the side, biting his thumbnail, his eyes narrow as he leaned in close.  “You know something?” he asked as he inspected her face, “You seem to blush quite often” he traced his index finger down her cheek down to her neck.  “It even reaches all the way to your neck.” he poked a spot on her neck softly “It’s cute though, but any more of it and your face is bound to stay that shade”

“You happen to cause it a lot,” Tifa explained softly as he felt his fingers at her face. “I can’t help it if it happens. You do things to me I’ve never experienced before, L.” She blushed more deeply at that, and started to grow a little nervous. “You really think it’s cute, and not childish of me to react this way to you?”

He shook his head tracing her collar bone “No I don’t think it’s childish, I think it’s cute.” he smiled softy at her.  “I don’t mean to do these things to you, it just kind of happens.  I’d say I’m sorry but than I’d be lying” he said smugly “And I don’t really like to lie.” he lied with a small chuckle.  To expose the truth he must lie, ironic isn’t it?  The man who was considered Justice in his world was, in fact, the biggest liar of all.

“You do?” She trembled as her skin goose-fleshed from his fingertips. It brought a smile to her face that he accepted her just how she was. Her friends did, too, but this seemed so different. She felt really vulnerable in front of him, but not scared to show it. “Do I do things to you too, L?” Tifa asked curiously, wondering if she did more than just make him blush or his heart to race.

“Remember how I said I don’t like to lie?” he asked calmly “That was a lie.  I lie all the time, I have to lie, it’s necessary for my line of work” his gaze turned on her, his eyes warm “But you make me want to tell the truth.  I’ve never lied to you, nor have I ever considered you just another person or case…I like to analyze those people, I want to know why they do what they do.  What their motives are.  But with you, its different.” He took a small breath and continued, his voice soothing.  “I want to find out why, but not on my own.  I don’t want to know everything about you in a week because you aren’t just another case.  I want to know you over the course of months and years, finding out new things everyday, learning why you act the way you do just by simply being with you.” He looked down as a smile grew on his face  “That has to mean something right?”

Tifa blushed at L’s admittance, and she glance away, a little embarrassed and overwhelmed by all the emotions she was feeling. She pictured life down the road, what it would be like for the two of them is this was long term. Seeing his face every day, for years, aging together. Having a life together. It made her heart pound so much she heard it in her ears, and she smiled softly as she turned back to face him.

“I just might like that, L….being with you for years, I mean….”
